November 17th, 2025 04:47:15 EST -0500 AVO Great Sitkin ORANGE/WATCH - Slow eruption of lava within the summit crater continues. Nov 16, 2025 20:46 - Lava continues to erupt in the summit crater of Great Sitkin Volcano. Seismicity at the volcano is at a low level, with occasional small earthquakes occurring over the past day. No significant activity was observed in partly cloudy satellite and webcam views. The current lava eruption began in July 2021 and since then has filled most of the summit crater and advanced into valleys below. There have been no explosions at Great Sitkin Volcano since an event in May 2021. The volcano is monitored using local seismic and infrasound sensors, satellite data and web cameras, and ...
November 17th, 2025 04:47:15 EST -0500 AVO Shishaldin YELLOW/ADVISORY - Small earthquakes continue. Nov 16, 2025 20:46 - Unrest continues at Shishaldin with frequent small earthquakes detected over the past day. No significant activity was observed in partly cloudy satellite and web camera views.Local seismic and infrasound sensors, web cameras, and a geodetic network are used to monitor Shishaldin Volcano. In addition to the local monitoring network, AVO uses nearby geophysical networks, regional infrasound and lighting data, and satellite images to detect eruptions.
November 17th, 2025 04:47:15 EST -0500 HVO Kilauea ORANGE/WATCH - The Kīlauea summit eruption is paused. Glow continued from the south and north vents overnight. The current forecast window for episode 37 is November 21–25. Nov 16, 2025 19:17 - Activity Summary:The Kīlauea summit eruption is paused. Overnight, the south vent showed persistent glow, while rare glow was visible from the north vent. Inflationary tilt is being recorded by summit tiltmeters. Models suggests that episode 37 could occur between November 21 to November 25. Summit Observations:Glow was observed from both vents overnight. The glow varied from weak to strong, mainly visible from the south vent. Tremor spikes continue every 5–10 minutes and appear to be related to gas pistoning deeper in the vents.UWD recorded just under 1 microradian of ...

November 17th, 2025 04:47:15 EST -0500 NMI Ahyi Seamount YELLOW/ADVISORY - No unusual activity observed in satellite or seismic data. Nov 14, 2025 00:05 - Signs of unrest at Ahyi Seamount have been observed routinely in satellite data over the past few weeks with plumes of discolored water observed drifting up to 1 mile (1.6 km) away from the volcano in satellite images on October 20, 21, 26, 28 and November 5. No high resolution satellite data were available over the past week. There was one signal observed on underwater pressure sensors near Wake Island (1,410 miles east of Ahyi) that may be related to activity at Ahyi. No other signals were detected from the direction of Ahyi Seamount from these hydroacoustic array data, ...

Nov 6, 2025 19:21 - Mauna Loa seismicity rates increased by approximately 75% relative to last month; however, this rate is still within background levels for this volcano. A total of 151 M1+ and smaller earthquakes were detected beneath Mauna Loa's summit region, as well as 3 M2+ and 1 M3+ earthquake. Data from Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments on Mauna Loa have continued to show only minor inflation beneath the summit as the volcano recovers from the 2022 eruption and magma replenishes the reservoir system.Gas and temperature data from a station on Mauna Loa's Southwest Rift Zone ... |

November 17th, 2025 04:47:15 EST -0500 AVO Katmai GREEN/NORMAL - Resuspended ash observed from 1912 eruption. Aviation color code and alert level remain at GREEN/NORMAL. Nov 5, 2025 22:43 - Strong northwesterly winds in the vicinity of Katmai and the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes have picked up loose volcanic ash erupted during the 1912 Novarupta-Katmai eruption and are carrying it to the southeast. The National Weather Service has issued a SIGMET for this low-level event and suggests that the maximum cloud height is 6,000 ft (1.8 km) above sea level. This phenomenon is not the result of recent volcanic activity and occurs during times of high winds and dry snow-free conditions in the Katmai area and other young volcanic areas of Alaska. No eruption is in ...
