February 6th, 2026 14:17:18 EST -0500 HVO Mauna Loa GREEN/NORMAL - Mauna Loa earthquake counts slightly increased in January, and inflationary ground deformation continued. Feb 6, 2026 02:17 - Mauna Loa seismic activity increased slightly over the past month, with a tight clustering of events under Mokuʻāweoweo and upper Southwest Rift Zone early in the month (a continuation of elevated earthquake production from the end of the previous month). A total of 123 earthquakes were detected beneath Mauna Loa's summit region in the January reporting period, while the prior month had 94 earthquakes. Data from Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments on Mauna Loa show variable rates of inflation at the summit over the past six months. This is associated with ...

February 6th, 2026 14:17:18 EST -0500 AVO Great Sitkin ORANGE/WATCH - Slow eruption of lava within the summit crater likely continues. Feb 5, 2026 21:28 - Lava continues to erupt slowly within the summit crater of Great Sitkin Volcano. A few local seismic events occurred over the past day, otherwise the volcano was quiet. Satellite and web camera views were all obscured by clouds. The current lava eruption began in July 2021 and since then has filled most of the summit crater and advanced into valleys below. There have been no explosions at Great Sitkin Volcano since an event in May 2021. The volcano is monitored using local seismic and infrasound sensors, satellite data and webcams, and regional infrasound and lightning ...
February 6th, 2026 14:17:18 EST -0500 AVO Shishaldin YELLOW/ADVISORY - Low-level unrest continues. Elevated seismicity, and steam emissions observed. Feb 5, 2026 21:28 - Shishaldin Volcano continues to experience unrest. Over the past day, there has been slightly elevated seismic activity, including numerous small earthquakes, volcanic tremor and infrasound detections. A plume of mostly water vapor (steam) was observed in clear web camera views yesterday. The volcano is obscured by clouds today. Satellite imagery captured over the past day has shown no significant changes or noteworthy features in cloudy conditions.Local seismic and infrasound sensors, web cameras, and a geodetic network are used to monitor Shishaldin Volcano. In addition ...

February 6th, 2026 14:17:18 EST -0500 AVO Okmok GREEN/NORMAL - Resuspended ash observed from multiple sources on Unmak Island. Okmok Volcano aviation color code and alert level remain at GREEN/NORMAL Jan 30, 2026 02:55 - Strong northerly winds in the vicinity of Okmok and Vsevidof volcanoes on Umnak Island have picked up loose volcanic ash and dust on the surface and are carrying it to the south. The clouds of resuspended volcanic ash are visible in satellite data. The National Weather Service has issued a SIGMET (https://www.weather.gov/aawu/sigmets) for this low-level event and suggests that the maximum cloud height is 3,000 ft (0.9 km) above sea level. This phenomenon is not the result of recent volcanic activity and occurs during times of high winds and dry snow-free conditions at ...
